Fall is the best time of year to hike in the Adirondacks.
As you can see in today’s view from HQ, although August is technically still summer in the Northern Hemisphere, fall has arrived in the Adirondacks. You can probably detect a slight yellow glow in the hills of Mount Marcy’s foreground in today’s featured photo, but you can’t feel how cold it was this morning; 39 degrees at HQ, just outside of the Village of Lake Placid. You are most certainly missing the slight breeze currently barely stirring the air which by noon has warmed to 66 degrees.
I officially declare the season for best hiking and trail running in the Adirondacks has begun!
